A BODY discovered on a stretch of beach between Friars Cliff and Mudeford on yesterday morning (Tuesday) was that of a man, say police.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said the victim's family had not yet been told and the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
The find was made by a dog walker at 6.35am near to beach huts beneath Avon Run Road, the force confirmed.
A tent was erected to shield the body from view and crime scene investigators were in attendance.
The police spokesperson said: "At this time the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are carrying out enquiries on behalf of the coroner, who has been informed.
"The man’s next of kin are yet to be notified.”
The view of the beach from the cordoned off clifftop
A section of the beach and cliffside paths were cordoned off.
A local resident, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s awfully sad for everyone involved.
"What a terrible shame.”
