Fire crews battle large barn blaze at farm in Kewlake Lane, Cadnam
DOZENS of firefighters battled for several hours to contain a large barn blaze in Cadnam.
The alarm was raised shortly before midday on Monday as flames engulfed the agricultural building containing hay, straw and animal feed at a farm in Kewlake Lane. No livestock was involved.
Crews from Lymington, Ringwood, Redbridge, Eastleigh, Romsey and Hightown spent about three hours tackling the fire.
They were joined by a command support vehicle from Beaulieu and the incident command unit, as well as a Dorset water carrier.
The incident was then scaled down to two crews who continued to bring the emergency under control until around 6.10pm when it was handed over to the farm owner.
Having left the fire as a controlled burn, crews returned to re-inspect the scene later that evening.
No details were available as to what caused the blaze or the extent of damage to the barn.
