Evo-Stik Southern Division 1 (S): Moneyfields 0-1 Blackfield & Langley

BLACKFIELD & LANGLEY shot back to the top of the Southern One (S) table after a 1-0 top of the table derby victory at Moneyfields.

The Watersiders made the most of one of the few fixtures to survive the weather with Liam Robinson’s goal on the stroke of half-time seeing the visitors leapfrog their hosts and move top of the table with 13 matches remaining.

Moneyfields’ cause wasn’t helped when striker Steve Hutchings was sent off shortly after a second-half melee.

Moneyfields started the better and had most of the opening 15 minutes until The Watersiders started to gain a foothold in the game.

There was little to choose between the two sides but Blackfield grabbed the all-important goal two minutes before the interval.

Robinson burst forward from his own half before smashing a low drive beyond Moneys’ keeper Steve Mowthorpe.

The second half was a fractious affair and a mass brawl started when someone on the Blackfield bench was perceived to have stopped a Moneyfields throw-in. The incident culminated in a red card for Hutchings.
