SIR – Your editorial on Friday 11th June about Hampshire County Council having a budget shortfall is very easily solved.

"We need a Lymington architect to design something that is in keeping with the character of the area."

SIR – Perhaps they should review the fact that since the beginning of this month, street lights are no longer being switched off between 1am and 4am.

SIR – New Forest District Council is missing a rare opportunity to provide what Lymington sorely lacks: a town “centre” with heart.

SIR – The proposed permanent closure of the Camping in the Forest campsites (A&T, 4th June), is both troubling and short-sighted.

SIR – I would disagree with the Forestry England (FE) spokesperson’s statement “we have an extensive network of approved trails”.

I would like to voice some qualified support for the people who contravened local bylaws in building the dirt jump bike area in Wilverley inclosure

SIR – The presumption that recreation and dog walking is responsible for any decline in ground nesting birds seems to be accepted without question.

SIR – What a sad sight the headline was in your issue of Friday 14th May (Police warn against town vigilantes).

SIR – It has been some time since we last visited Lymington but when we visited last week we were somewhat dismayed and very disappointed.

SIR – It was indeed a clean sweep for the Hampshire Conservatives in our local elections...

SIR – Peter Whitfield (Letters, 14th May) has made a very important observation about the decline of our native hedgehog...

SIR – We recently became aware of a decision to remove the footbridge over the river by Martin's Road, Brockenhurst (A&T, 7th May).

SIR – Just as the flowers are in bloom and insects and other invertebrates have emerged from their winter lockdown, along come the mowers.

SIR – So Barclays Bank in New Milton is closing (A&T, 30th April).

SIR – Let's avoid this unimaginative planning disaster.

SIR – I fear that the rush to avoid a refusal of the current planning application for Lymington’s Town Quay toilets may lead to a compromise.

SIR – The excellent letter from Mr Bowman drew attention to the cliff erosion at Barton and the need to protect the foot of the cliff.

SIR – The current “in” word, usually in regard to women, is “empowering”.

SIR – It was very encouraging to walk into Lymington to see the town full of people enjoying the chilly sunshine with shops open at last.
