SIR – It is widely accepted the water quality of our waters have deteriorated to a level that a civilised country should be ashamed of.

SIR – Those of your readers who follow Forest affairs will be familiar with the current controversy over camping and caravan sites on the Crown lands.

SIR – Just days before COP26 there are three letters in the A&T that want to further change the New Forest purely for the benefit of humans.

"Week after week the list of those who should not be allowed in the Forest grows"

"Too many times I am overtaken by motorcyclists"

"Not all accidents are caused by speed"

"Lymington has a plentiful supply of 'retirement' properties"

"To claim global warming is only partially caused by humans is alarming to hear in this age"

SIR – I was disappointed to read in the 17th September issue that once again there are "hundreds" against a proposed cycle lane.

"lf anyone's animosity is justified, it is the cyclist whose safety is jeopardised by bad drivers."

SIR – The debate over the tactics of Extinction Rebellion groups distracts from looking at the numbers.

SIR – Having just returned from a week in Norfolk I was appalled at how untidy and dirty my home town of Lymington has become.

'I was hoping the new Highway Code might give more clarity not only to the responsibilities of motorists towards cyclists but the other way round'

SIR – I was surprised and somewhat dismayed reading the article regarding the stricken cyclist at Brockenhurst (A&T, 27th August).

"No more seagulls divebombing people and human detritus lying in streets"

"Worryingly, we had spent approximately £50m policing the previous demonstrations, never mind the insurance claims for damage."
