CHRISTCHURCH ROWING CLUB women’s squad contested the Burway 3000m Head of the River Race in glorious sunshine.

In Division One, the Christchurch women’s senior four of Emma Moran (bow), Emma Kelly, Julia Fabrizi, Rachael Willaims, coxed by Allison Fortt, fought off strong competition from two University of London crews, to take the senior fours title in their inaugural outing.

The Christchurch women’s quad suffered a last-minute set back. Their stroke was not well enough to compete, and a late substitution led to a crew order reshuffle.

The hastily arranged finalised line-up of Amy Binion (bow), Charlie Brad, Lucy Hart and Lucy Bird proved strong contenders, beating competition in all three divisions to take the senior quad title.

In Division 2 the Christchurch Rowing Club masters quad of Faye Standle (bow), Julia Fabrizi, Jane Rafferty, and Rachael Williams, were dominant in the masters’ quad category and, despite time lost through an entanglement with a buoy, came in just behind Henley.
