King strike ends Lymington Town’s poor league run

Sydenhams Wessex Premier: Lymington Town 1-0 Shaftesbury

AFTER five consecutive defeats Lymington Town fought tooth and nail, at home to Shaftesbury on Saturday, to gain three much needed points.

With new signings bedding into the team and Callum Davies starting following a long injury absence, Lymington also introduced Harry Yates to first team football following his goal-scoring exploits for the Reserves.

Leading scorer Jake King put Lymington in front from a Mike Gosney cross 20 minutes in.

Another excellent build up ended with a Gosney shot kept out by the visiting keeper’s diving save.

After the break Ashley Jarvis came on for injured Nick Watts. The home side then had to show their battling qualities after being reduced to ten men when Davies’ return ended with a red card after a dangerous tackle.
