ARMED police arrested a man after a woman was allegedly threatened at knifepoint in a Christchurch home this afternoon (Wednesday).

The alarm was raised around 3.20pm, with reports the victim had been targeted inside the property in Leyside. No one was injured.

Officers launched a search of the area to find the suspect who had left the address prior to their arrival.

A 28-year-old man from Bournemouth was detained a short time later on suspicion of making threats to kill and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. That afternoon he was said to have been helping officers with their enquiries.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said the man and the victim are known to each other.
