Smash hit comedy ART set for three-night run at Lighthouse Poole

THE smash hit comedy ART will open for a three-night run at Lighthouse Poole later this month.

Originally written in French by Yasmina Reza and then translated by Christopher Hampton, ART tells the story of what happens when Serge spends an extortionate amount of money on an all white modernist painting, and the surprising reactions of his two closest friends, Marc and Yvan, to his purchase.

A discussion about the quality of the painting quickly descends into petty jibes and personal attacks, causing the three men to border on destroying their friendships. But why would a solid friendship be rocked by a piece of art?

Having opened in 1996, ART took both the West End and Broadway by storm as well as winning an Olivier, Tony and Moliere – plus every other major theatre award.

The multi-award winning play is hailed a razor sharp exploration of art, love and friendship that will stay with audiences long after the curtain falls. It stars comedian Seann Walsh, Chris Harper (Call the Midwife, Coronation Street) and Aden Gillett (The Crown, The House of Elliot).

Iqbal Khan (East is East, National Theatre and Othello, RSC) directs the brand-new production of Reza’s fiendishly clever and hilariously funny play.

ART is on stage at Lighthouse Poole from Thursday 29th to Saturday 31st August. Tickets are priced between £25 and £40. For more information and bookings, visit www.lighthousepoole.co.uk or call the box office on 01202 280000.
