Back to our roots: The Lion and LamB returns to Pennington
Tucked in the heart of Pennington near Lymington, just minutes from the New Forest and the scenic South Coast, something exciting is happening.
A well-loved village pub, steeped in local history, is preparing to open its doors once again – but this time under its original name: Lion and LamB (and yes, the capital 'B' is intentional).
Many locals will know it as The Musketeer, the name it carried since the 1970s. But long before that, this welcoming village pub was known as the Lion and Lamb, until a fire tragically destroyed the original building.
Rebuilt in 1905 and standing proud ever since, it has served generations of locals – including the father and grandfather of longstanding landlord Eric Light, who grew up just around the corner in Pennington.
With a full refurbishment now complete, Eric is bringing the pub back to life and back to its roots.
"This place has always meant something to my family, and to so many others in the village," Eric says. "We wanted a fresh start, but one that honoured the heritage and spirit of the original pub.”
Opening week commences 14th April, and the new Lion and LamB will offer much more than just a pint. Expect a warm, inviting atmosphere, a fantastic selection of real ales, a quality food menu crafted with local ingredients where possible, and the kind of relaxed charm you only find in a true village pub.
The pub is also dog-friendly, so you can bring your four legged friends along. It features a light and airy interior and a function room for private events.
Plus, for those looking to stay a little longer, we’re also excited to introduce boutique style holiday accommodation in our beautifully converted Old Coach House. With the New Forest, Lymington’s charming quay, the stunning South Coast and the Isle of Wight ferry just moments away, it’s the perfect base for exploring the local area.
Whether you’re looking for a cosy spot to unwind with a drink or a hearty meal with loved ones, the Lion and LamB is ready to welcome you. Visit www.lionandlambpub.com for more details and opening updates.
