Dog star sought for Puccini's La Boheme at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre
PAMPERED pooches and dazzling dogs are being sought to appear in the opera La Bohème at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on Friday 14th February.
Show producers are keen to find the canine equivalent of Brad Pitt or Scarlett Johansson to step up on stage alongside their owner.
La Bohème director and producer Ellen Kent said: “People say never work with children or animals but I love to do both. The first time was 20 years ago when my pet cat Holly Go-Lightly was in one of my productions and was an instant hit. Since then, we’ve had horses, dogs, goldfish and even a golden eagle with a 6ft wingspan on stage.”
In 2023, the same production team asked local people to volunteer their pets – with one rescue dog receiving dozens of requests from new owners!
In order to eligible dogs should be well-behaved and medium or small size. Owners must also be prepared to go on-stage in costume to look after him or her.
If you think your dog has what it takes send a photo together with contact details as well as the breed, height, weight, age, and name of your dog. To apply email: ellen@ellenkent.co.uk.
