The story of Foster & Allen began in the 1970s when Mick Foster and Tony Allen were playing in country music bands around Ireland. In 1975 they formed a small group and travelled over to the UK to work the Irish music venues on a short tour.

Mick and Tony then decided to work together as a duo, playing easy listening music with a touch of traditional Irish instrumentals. When their UK tour ended they decided to let the band return to Ireland while they stayed behind to try out the duo on the public.

They played several venues in London and received positive feedback, so Foster & Allen was formed. Their first single, The Rambles of Spring, was well received in Ireland. Their first top-selling single in Ireland was A Bunch of Thyme, which was released in 1978. It stayed on the Irish charts for 40 weeks and was released in the UK in 1982.

Mick Foster said: “From the opening title track, the evergreen, We’ll Meet Again, to our rendition of popular classics such as Grace, The Cliffs of Dooneen, and Cotton Fields Back Home, Foster & Allen are well and truly back in stride.”

Foster & Allen 50 Years of Hits will be at Christchurch’s Regent Centre on Saturday 2nd November at 7.30pm. Tickets are £29 each. For information and bookings visit regentcentre.co.uk or call the box office on 01202 499199.
