Hay Fever, Furzey Gardens

A CAST of West End actors are set to perform Noel Coward's popular comedy Hay Fever in the grounds of Furzey Gardens in Minstead this summer.

Regarded as one of the most famous plays in the English language, Hay Fever is packed with unforgettable characters and dripping with wit.

The dynamic family-friendly outdoor production will highlight the garden backdrop mirroring the elegance of Coward’s world.

It will be performed by London Touring Players which have previously staged productions at Furzey Gardens and in Beaulieu at the abbey ruins and at the Countryside Education Trust. Last year the Players performed Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

Audiences are promised an evening of comedy, magic and live music with the action punctuated by Coward’s famous songs such as Don’t Put Your Daughter on the Stage and Mad Dogs and Englishmen.

Director Abbey Wright said: "Hay Fever is one of the funniest plays ever written. It flies along at a great pace and is a joyful and mischievous celebration of eccentricity, family and love.

"The Furzey Gardens setting is incredibly pretty and magical as the night falls. It will be a joyous and uplifting evening out for the whole family – a summer treat.”

This year sees many of the cast of West End actors return. In previous years it has included Corey Mylchreest, currently starring as King George in Bridgerton. This year boasts a cast with stars of The Crown, Coronation Street and National Theatre star Hedda Gabler.

Hay Fever will play nightly from 3rd to 26th August. Tickets are £20.50 for adults and £15.50 for children, family ticket £68. To book visit minsteadtrust.org.uk/furzey-gardens
