Where and when are the next summer Olympics?
In 2024 the Games are taking place in Paris between July 26 and August 11.

Billed as the "biggest event ever held in the city" all eyes will be on our French neighbours as they host the games in their capital for the first time in 100 years.

More than 10,000 athletes competing in more than 32 sports and disciplines will take part in events across 37 competition venues, expect organisers.

Can you get tickets from the UK?

Yes! The Paris 2024 Games are ready to welcome visitors from around the world and with the continent just a short train ride, flight or even drive from England it could be one of the easiest games outside of the UK to reach.

Alongside an opportunity to buy just tickets are various travel packages, which promise to take the hassle out of getting to the Games by piecing together accommodation, transport and local travel, and you can learn more about those specifically here.

How do I apply for tickets?

There is just one site, say organisers, selling official Olympic Games tickets and it's here. Any other ticket selling sites, is the advice, should be avoided.

In order to be in with a chance of buying tickets you need to enter the Paris 2024 draw, which if you're successful, will offer you a time purchasing slot in order to be able to buy your chosen event tickets.

You have until 6pm on January 31, 2023 to enter yourself into the draw which will give you access a few weeks later to then buy your games pack.

While you are waiting to hear of the results of the draw, organisers suggest that budding ticket buyers begin looking at the events, calendar of competition and the different sessions and sports you favour so that you have an idea about what it is you might like to see, and whether it's a timetable that allows you the time to move between venues, should you be given the opportunity to dive in and buy!

What happens if I'm successful in the draw?

Should your name be picked out in the draw you will receive an email between February 13 and March 15, 2023 giving you access to ticket sales for a limited 48 hours.

Your email telling you you've been successful will arrive two days before your buying slot opens – so you must be sure to use an address when you sign-up that you're going to check regularly so as not to miss any notifications – and be sure to check your junk items too!

Once your timeslot has opened you will have 48 hours to pick your events – or do what is known as building a 'games pack' – add them all to your basket and checkout.

A games pack will entitle you to pick three events – or sessions – but you will be required to select the exact same number of tickets for each event up to a maximum of six for each event. You will be able to check availability for each event during the point at which your specified time slot is live. You can create more than one games pack but each account will be limited to a maximum of 30 tickets in total.

Once you've bought your tickets successfully, you'll be able to log into your account to see what has been chosen and eventually closer to the Games, your tickets and passes will also be available via a specially designed app.

How much are the tickets?

Ten million tickets will be available for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. One million tickets will start at €24, or around £21, and will be available across all Olympic sports where tickets are on sale.

The starting price for a Make Your Games pack of three sessions is €72, and corresponds to a ticket of €24 for each of the three sessions.

Almost half of the tickets available to the general public are priced at €50 or less, promise organisers, but ticket prices will vary according to your chosen category, sport and session.

What happens if there isn't a purchasing slot?

If you didn't get a place in the initial draw you'll be sent an email to tell you on March 15 that you weren't successful. But don't panic – say organisers – more ticket buying opportunities will be available in the spring of 2023.

Between March and the end of April a further registration period will open for the sale of single tickets.

In early May 2023, time slots for this buying option will be released before later that month single ticket sales will open.
