Savills puts Grade II listed £3.75 million Lymington high street home on market

A Grade II listed family home in Lymington is on the market with a guide price of £3.75 million.

The property, named Pilgrim, opposite St Thomas’s Church in the high street, features a half-acre walled garden, an outdoor swimming pool and a wine cellar.

Property agent Savills says the four-bed, four-bathroom dwelling is “quite simply one of Lymington’s finest houses”.

A recent renovation of the 4,802sqft property “remains true” to its 1700s roots while overhauling and modernising the insulation, wiring, plumbing and lighting.

Behind Pilgrim’s Georgian double frontage is a “charming” reception hall with painted beams, oak floors and a fireplace featuring a modern wood burning stove.

There is a drawing room that overlooks the picturesque garden and a study “snug” area with another wood burning stove and ornate period radiators.

From a groundfloor family room there is an electrically powered trapdoor which leads to a “characterful” barrel vaulted cellar that would be “ideal for wine tasting parties”.

Beyond the downstairs family room is Pilgrim’s “exceptional” kitchen and dining room, with a floor to ceiling glazed east wall, an island, hand-painted decor and room for a number of appliances.

The ground floor has four sets of double glazed doors that lead into the home’s impressive courtyard.

On the first floor is the property’s master bedroom which overlooks the garden and features an en suite bathroom, built in wardrobes, under floor heating and air conditioning.

The bathroom has a large walk-in shower and a free standing bathtub by Catchpole and Rye with Waterworks fittings.

There are two more double bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of them en suite, on the first floor.

The property’s second floor has the fourth double bedroom, which has a separate dressing room and a free standing copper bath and a separate en suite shower room.

Giles Muddle of Savills Winchester said: “The gardens lie to the rear of the property and are a stunning feature of Pilgrim and create a real oasis of calm at the heart of this vibrant town.

“They face due south allowing for light all day with the easterly aspect of the glazed wall in the kitchen allowing morning light to flood in.”

Immediately behind the house, enclosed by the kitchen wing, is a York stone terrace flanked by mature pleached trees which is the “ideal space” for outdoor dining, entertaining and relaxing.

South of the terrace are Pilgrim’s landscaped, walled gardens with “manicured paths leading through established flower beds and wisteria walks” which are managed by an automated irrigation system.

Beyond the wisteria walk the garden opens up with a wrought iron gate in an old brick wall leading to a level lawn and screened, heated pool and pool house.

There is room for a Nordic hot tub and a “delightful” traditional lean-to green house. Adjoining the house is a long tandem garage, a large secure parking area and another large double garage.
