Letter: Thanks for the price rises Southern Water

All customers of Southern Water will have received a self-congratulatory email from them trumpeting the fact that they will be investing in new facilities to improve their treatment of waste water.

Well done! And where are they getting the money from? Us, their captive customers with our ever increasing bills.

At least some of our money is going where it should into the business rather than the pockets of senior staff and shareholders.

This week we learn the Solent is polluted with over 100 chemicals from their multiple illegal spills. The response from the company is it is the customers’ fault for purposefully putting these things in the pipes. They have overlooked the fact that cocaine and many prescription drugs are excreted in the urine, so do they want me to pee in the garden?

I am old and do try not to be grumpy, but really this lot would try the patience of a saint.
