The microbiome enhancing facial treatment is available at Lime Wood’a Herb House Spa
LUXURY Lyndhurst hotel Lime Wood has become the first place in the England to offer a new microbiome enhancing facial treatment at its Herb House spa.
The GROUND Biome Facial developed using a skin care range created by Peigin Crowley, has been “very popular” with hotel guests and spa members since its launch around two months ago, said Herb House operations manager Sophie Cox.
“The products are designed so they can be used by anyone – they are suitable for use in pregnancy and for those receiving cancer treatment,” added Sophie, continuing: “They do a lot of lymphatic drainage and cooling therapy – it is not a traditional facial and it’s certainly been very well received.”
Herb House spa director Tammy Kenyon added: “It’s a very bespoke method and different way of doing a facial treatments. Our therapists absolutely love it.”
Peigin Crowley launched GROUND products from her kitchen table in 2020, initially creating therapeutic self-care products focused on sleep, stress, and hormone health.
As a former therapist herself, Peigin then expanded her range into women’s health, cancer care, gut health, and lymphatic support, culminating in the 2025 launch of the Biome Skincare range, designed to nourish and support the skin’s microbiome, reinforcing barrier health from the outside in.
The facial treatment has been created to align with the skin’s natural ecosystem while supercharging the microbiome. Using probiotic-rich plant nutrition it features lymph activating, therapeutic massage techniques, which have been developed to calm inflammation, strengthen the skin barrier, and support skin longevity.
Cooling therapy further recharges the skin, leaving it balanced, soothed, and deeply hydrated.
The treatment also focus on other areas where stress—often a root cause of gut and skin imbalances—can linger such as the abdomen and diaphragm.
Set in the grounds of Lime Wood hotel around a mile from Lyndhurst, the Herb House is a haven of tranquility boosting indoor and outdoor pools and hydrotherapy zones. The spa offers a vast array of specialist treatments including bespoke ayurvedic treatments, said to re-balance the mind, body and spirit.
When Lime Wood invited me to try out the new facial myself – I jumped at the chance, particularly as my visit came at the end of a very busy week. However, as soon as I stepped into the Herb House spa I felt the tensions of day to day life begin to melt away.
The very essence of laid back luxury, the beautiful building feels at one with nature – as huge floors to ceiling windows welcome the outside in by revealing textured herbs, colourful blooms; and from other panoramas a woodland of towering trees. Before heading off to my treatment, I enjoyed a gorgeous start to my day with succulent New Forest Strawberries followed by the wonderful Raw and Cured breakfast bowl of crushed organic eggs and avocado, fresh tomatoes, spinach, home fermented sauerkraut & sprouting pulses.
Already feeling revitalised and relaxed I settled down for a 60-minute treatment which aligned perfectly with Lime Wood’s whole body holistic approach to wellness. For me the GROUND Biome Facial wasn't just a facial – it was a deeply relaxing experience that left both my skin and my mind feeling beautifully balanced.
The treatment was incredibly soothing as my therapist used gentle lymph-activating and therapeutic massages techniques, which felt deeply calming. Another wonderful aspect of the experience was the cooling therapy, which made my skin feel fresh and recharged.
The GROUND Biome Facial is the ultimate treat for relaxation and rejuvenation. The treatment is from £140 for 60 minutes. To find out more and book visit www.limewoodhotel.co.uk
