Trio of friends host Lymington Art Show
A trio of friends have hosted a pop-up art show at Warborne Farm in Lymington.
Lizzy May, Lucy Bennett and Corinne Migraine joined forces for their first joint show which showcased a colourful collection of styles and mediums ranging from abstract and landscape oil paintings to drawings of the New Forest and beautiful marine wildlife studies painted on old nautical charts.
Lizzy, who is also a practicing New Forest Commoner, explained: “Lucy and I are new to this game and it’s the first time we had exhibited in this way. Corinne, our friend from Normandy has shown many times overseas and she was the one to persuade us to go for it!”
The trio are all friends with Kate and George Heathcote who runs Warborne Farm, where the pop-up exhibition was held.
New Forest Commoner Lizzie grew up in London, studying Geography and Archelogy at Manchester University before moving into a career in marketing. However, he love of painting and crafting has been lifelong and after moving to the New Forest to start a family, she was inspired to illustrate the beautiful environment and fascinating commoning community. From pencil drawing of the drifts to sketches of cattle grazing on Keyhaven nature reserve, he work is inspired by the Forest and coastline.
Lucy Bennett grew up on a farm in Kent and after spending time living in Asia, she was drawn to live in the New Forest. Shorted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2023, Lucy has also taken part in the St Barbe Museum Open Exhibition winning the award for Best Contemporary Abstract in 2023. She paints in oil and acrylic, using colour, texture and line, with the majority of her work completed en plein air.
