New Forest Beer Festival in Brockenhurst, run by Belgium & Blues, to include Pig Beer, Monkey Brewhouse and Dancing Man Brewery

TEN independent micro-breweries will be showing off their products at a beer festival in Brockenhurst next month.

The event at the village hall on 29th June is aimed at raising awareness of the “fantastic beer” on offer in the area, much of which is not available in local pubs.

Organiser Belgium & Blues, which has a craft beer bar and brasserie in Southampton, says the New Forest Beer Festival will showcase the “huge array of brewing talent” in the area.

Steve Lee, from B&B, said: “There is a great beer community in the Forest, and this day will give them a chance to sample really lovely beer from small producers.

“Most of the breweries don’t have access to pubs as most are tied to big breweries, and some don’t have tap rooms where customers can try the beer either. So the festival is a great opportunity for them to show off their beer.

“It is going to be a really fun event, with people enjoying nice, really local beer.”

Steve, who used to live in Brockenhurst, has chosen Oakhaven Hospice as the charity to benefit from any profits on the day. The facility cared for his mother during the last four weeks of her life.

He continued: “I am hoping that, if successful – as I am sure it will be – the New Forest Beer Festival will become an annual event in the village.”

Belgium & Blues runs the very popular annual South Coast Beer Festival in Southampton.

Among those taking part in the New Forest adult-only event will be Pig Beer, which is based in the village, Steam Two, Dark Revolution, Monkey Brewhouse, Dancing Man Brewery, The Way Outback, and Vibrant Forest Brewery.

Boldre-based 820 spirits will also be on hand, serving up cocktails, and Smoke & Fire BBQ, from Lymington, will be cooking up a storm.

There will also be live music and a DJ. Tickets are available at an early bird price of £6, then go up to £10. For more information or to buy a ticket, go to www.belgiumandblues.co.uk/cbs/newforest
