New Forest Choirs come together for Highcliffe Castle Spring Concert
HIGHCLIFFE Castle will provide the backdrop for a spring concert featuring the New Forest Chamber Choir and New Forest Children’s Choir on Saturday.
The choirs will be joined by their regular soprano soloist Henrietta Russell, a prize winner at last year’s Music at Beaulieu awards. Henrietta was also the recipient of the June Cowell Trophy for the Most Promising Singer at Southampton Music Festival.
The choirs will be singing well-loved choral music by their patron Sir John Rutter, Will Todd and Howard Goodall, and will come together to sing pieces from My Fair Lady.
Henrietta will be singing operatic pieces, classics from Andrew Lloyd Webber and songs from Les Miserables. The concert will also feature a beautiful Mozart motet.
New Forest Choirs spokesperson Rupert Du Barr said: “Both choirs have a deserved reputation for exquisite harmonies and beautiful legato phrasing. Indeed the Children’s Choir won BBC Choir of the Year in 2010 and has been enchanting audiences for nearly 20 years with their trademark legato phrasing and exceptional tone.”
Director of music Alison Russell-Hayward conducts both choirs and endeavours that all concerts offer the very highest quality of music and enjoyment.
Alison said: “We are delighted to be selling out concerts and continuing to delight audiences that enrich the musical experiences here in our precious New Forest area.”
New Forest Choirs will be at Highcliffe Castle on Saturday 22nd March at 3pm. Tickets are £20 for adults and £10 for children. To book visit newforestchamberchoir.co.uk
