Exhibition to showcase childhood in the New Forest




A MUSEUM’S historic collection of images and objects which tell the story of childhood in the New Forest is to be showcased in two villages this month.

The Tea and Memories event is run by St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery, based in New Street.

A museum spokesperson said: “We have looked through our collection and gathered a selection of nostalgic images each with a story to tell.

“These include historic family portraits, play dates, school photos, Scout and Guide meetings and camps, and festivals and events being celebrated in local towns and villages.

“The images are full of local people, so why not come along to see how many you can recognise or whether there are any pictures of you – we’d love to hear stories from your childhood.”

The event is being held at Sway village hall on 11th July between 1.30pm and 3.30pm, then at New Milton community centre on 26th July 2pm-4pm.

The spokesperson added: “All visitors are welcome to drop in for free tea and biscuits and to share their memories or just look through the lovely photos of times gone by, which are sure to make you smile.”
