Glow Marwell lights up this December

WITH its Grade I listed manor house taking centre stage, Marwell Zoo has been transformed into an illuminated festive wonderland as the popular Glow Marwell attraction returns this December.

Joining the dazzling light experience which opens daily as the darkness descends, visitors can immerse themselves in a world of fire, earth, air and water, as dozens of stunning installations are transformed into incredible photo opportunities.

The trail begins with a vibrant tunnel of light, quickly followed by a colour-changing stepping stone attraction, which proves a huge hit with younger children. An enchanted butterfly garden and beautifully lit trees continue the route to Café Graze and then on to Marwell House which is beautifully illuminated with festive light projections. Artificial snow machines and light up swinging rings provide more spectacular photo opportunities.

Visitors can swim with jellyfish in a new ocean display, drift among glowing clouds in the Sky Zone, stroll in the snow beside a luminous ancient woodland and gather around crackling firepits for toasted marshmallows.

This year the popular Marwell Enchanted Tree is back, featuring a breathtaking display of weaving lights inspired by the mycelium network, the incredible underground phenomenon connecting nature’s ecosystems.

Those wishing to join the glow-up can queue up for vibrant UV face paints which are then illuminated at various points throughout the journey.

Father Christmas and his mischievous elves will also be returning to the majestic Marwell Hall on selected dates, with booking required.

Festive feasting opportunities are plentiful thanks to a Christmas market selling a range of seasonal treats and drinks, including hot chocolates, churros, hotdogs and candyfloss.

Admission to the light-up attraction includes free access to the zoo from 1pm to 4pm on the day of booking.

UPDATE:

Marwell Wildlife has announced an extension to its popular Glow Marwell winter lights event after Storm Darragh forced the event to close for three days.

The conservation zoo has added two additional weekend dates on Saturday 4th January and Sunday 5th January to give everyone affected by the storm the opportunity to visit.
