Pale Blue Eyes at The Joiners Southampton

To the Joiners where Pale Blue Eyes make their second visit to Southampton this year (having previously supported The Orielles at the 1865) now headlining in their own right promoting their critically acclaimed second studio album ‘This House’.

They don’t wear their influences openly, so you’ll encounter nuances of shoegaze, dream-pop, space rock and motorik. When the synth really gets going we briefly foray dizzyingly into David Holmes’ I Heard Wonders.

A full house with a wide and appreciative demographic (always pleasing), a number of the audience would have been around the first time for this evolution of this style, here delivered confidently and originally.

‘Dr Pong’, ‘More’ and ‘Takes Me Over’ were particular highlights. These guys are good.

Support was from Brighton based Ceil who admirably coped with sound issues to provide a set of great promise.
