Sir Tom Jones and Sugababes to headline Dorset’s Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle
POP icons Sugababes and Sir Tom Jones are set to join Basement Jaxx as headliners of this summer’s Camp Bestival music festival.
The four-day family-inspired musical extravaganza will return to Dorset’s Lulworth Castle from Thursday 31st July to Sunday 3rd August, with a selection of up-and-coming local bands, who have appeared alongside chart-toppers and international acts.
Entering its 17th year, Camp Bestival will also play host to acts including indie rockers Lightning Seeds and The Zutons, plus DJ Annie Mac and drum-and-bass legend Goldie who will be performing with his live band.
The original queen of reggae Dawn Penn will be joined by rising stars Nieve Ella and Mia Kirkland plus Isle of Wight indie upstarts The Pill.
Also appearing over the weekend will be ska legends Dub Pistols, Palestinian singer-songwriter Bashar Murad, MC Grammar, Dreadzone and BBC Radio 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins who will be bringing his indie disco to the Lulworth.
Family fun will also be high on the agenda with entertainment from Andy and The Odd Socks, plus everyone’s family favourite Mr Tumble and the master of all things craft Mister Maker, plus back with their storytime tent will be CBeebies Bedtime Stories, and Horrible Histories with the hit show Gorgeous Georgians & Vile Victorians.
Camp Bestival founder and curator Rob da Bank said: “We’ve always wanted to have Sir Tom Jones gracing our stage and finally the man himself has agreed to belt out Delilah for us!”
Conceived with families in mind, the festival will also feature an array of top DJs, kids theatre and circus shows, sporting have-a-go sessions, baking activities and chill-out zones. There will also be myriad new crafts for families to try their hands at inside Fashion & Textile World including a big new drop-in area for block printing, sashiko embroidery and visible mending.
Tickets are from £221 for adults and £111 for kids. To find out more visit dorset.campbestival.net
