Five top chefs to compete to be ‘Dorset Champion’ at Captain’s Club hotel in fund raiser for charity Room to Reward




AN evening with some of the best chefs in the area competing against each other to be crowned ‘Dorset Champion’ will be the centre-piece of a fundraising drive for charity Room to Reward.

The event on 10th November will be hosted by the organisation at The Captain’s Club in Christchurch to fund its work offering unsold hotel rooms to volunteers for a break.

Featuring Alex Aitken, of The Jetty at Christchurch Harbour Hotel, Colin Nash, who runs the Colin Nash restaurant at The Retreat, Michael Moirinho from Summer Lodge in Dorchester, Mark Hix of Oyster & Fish House in Lyme Regis and Adriana Lisk, of Rockwater, Branksome Chine.

They will go head to head on the night, with Alex producing the starter, Mark the fish course and Colin the main, while dessert will be created by Michael. Each chef will tell guests about why they chose their dishes and inform them about the ingredients and suppliers as they present them.

There will be paired wines throughout the dinner from Langham Wine and English Oak, and guests will take their seats at 7.30pm.

Cheese after the four-chef feast will be provided by Peter Morgan from The Book and Bucket Cheese Company, with petit fours served by Adriana, head pastry chef at Rockwater, followed by coffee liqueurs from Conker Cold Brew.

A lavish drinks reception with offerings from Conker Gin, Shanty Vodka, Midas Prosecco and the Piddle Brewery will kick off proceedings. There will also be an auction, raffle and live music.

Adam Terpening, charity director at Room to Reward, said: “This is a unique opportunity to experience the best of Dorset’s food scene while raising vital funds for our small charity.

“Every penny raised will make a huge difference to all charities, communities and the hidden heroes that do so much for them. We are incredibly grateful to the partners we work with and the support that they offer us.”

Tim Lloyd, managing director of The Captain’s Club, added: “We are thrilled to host this prestigious event, and our kitchen brigade are looking forward to working with this esteemed group of Dorset chefs to deliver an exceptional evening promoting all that is Dorset in aid of such a worthy charity as Room to Reward.”

Tickets for the event are on sale for £100 per person including a £50 donation to the charity.

The maximum number of people per table is 10. The event is limited to 100 guests, so early booking is recommended.
