The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel arrives at Southampton Mayflower Theatre 23rd to 27th May
THE much-loved stage version of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel arrives at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre next month.
Hailed as a joyous, feel-good comedy about taking risks, finding love, and embracing second chances in the most surprising of places, the production will be on stage from 23rd to 27th May.
Based on the Sunday Times bestseller which inspired one of this century’s most treasured films, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel takes theatre-goers on a journey to India with an eclectic group of British retirees as they embark on a new life.
The luxury residence they arrive at is far from the opulence they were promised, but as their lives begin to intertwine and they embrace the vibrancy of modern-day India, they are charmed in unexpected and life-changing ways.
Interwoven stories of the characters shine a light on issues such as the outsourcing of care and NHS treatments, the complexity of family relationships around the world, love, compassion, and companionship in our twilight years.
The stage version stars much-loved comedy actress Belinda Lang (BBC’s 2point4 Children), Tessa Peake-Jones (Raquel from Only Fools and Horses); Graham Seed (Nigel Pargetter in the Archers); Paola Dionisotti; and Paul Nicholas (EastEnders).
Released in the UK in 2012, the film version had topped the box office within two weeks and went on to become a hit, internationally performing as one of the highest-grossing films of 2012 in Australia and New Zealand.
Tickets for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel are priced between £17.50 and £39.50. to book visit www.mayflower.org.uk or call the box office on 02380 711811.
