What’s On: Summer highlights at Beaulieu
LIVING history re-enactments, sculpture trails and motoring parades have all been lined up to entertain families visiting Beaulieu this summer.
Guests can see vehicles from different eras of motoring history including the ‘Whomobile’ from Doctor Who, roar to life and embark on demonstration laps around the events arena.
Meanwhile living history characters promise to bring the past to life including Lord Montagu’s falconer who will be exercising his birds on the lawns of Palace House, motor museum mechanic Jack Tucker and his handling table of nuts and bolts, and the friendly costumed staff in Palace House including the cook and his scullery maids.
Children can collect all their characters cards during their visit, including a limited-edition card from Lord Montagu himself.
Beaulieu’s popular fairy and dragon sculpture trail also continues featuring woven willow creations on the Mill Pond Walk. Highlights include wonderful woodland creatures, magical unicorns, enchanted fairies and dragons and even mischievous boggarts hiding in the foliage.
Visitors can also embark on a whimsical adventure in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Mr Toad’s car in a journey around the attraction, offering glimpses of Beaulieu Abbey and Palace House.
Meanwhile the National Motor Museum’s Streets Ahead: Motoring in Mid Century Britain exhibition continues highlighting nostalgia from the 1950s to the 1970s. Then, just outside by the arena memories of the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s are also celebrated in a new We Had One of Those display.
This weekend, 3rd and 4th August, is the hugely popular Beaulieu Supercar Weekend with a special appearance from The Stig from BBC’s Top Gear on both days. Tickets allow visitors to return for another visit within six days. For more information visit www.beaulieu.co.uk
