What’s On: Violin Virtuoso Rose Gosney and Nova Foresta Classical Players, Beaulieu Abbey
YOUNG violin virtuoso Rose Gosney will perform a concert at Beaulieu Abbey with Nova Foresta Classical Players.
Highly regarded as a BBC Young Musician quarterfinalist and as the leader of the National Youth Orchestra, Rose, will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto as the featured soloist with Nova Foresta in a concert conducted by Paul Ingram.
Rose, who recently led the National Youth Orchestra in a celebrated performance at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms, is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Robin Wilson. A former pupil of Hounsdown School, she is quickly establishing herself as a rising talent in the classical music world.
Under Rose’s leadership, the NYO captivated audiences with a series of performances in the last year. In January 2024, she led the orchestra in Strauss’s An Alpine Symphony under the baton of conductor Mark Elder at the Barbican. In August, Rose was at the BBC Proms, leading NYO in Mahler’s Symphony No.1.
Her formal musical training began under the guidance of Anca Campanie in Southampton. She later studied at the renowned Yehudi Menuhin School, studying with Akiko Ono, and continued her musical studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Lorraine McAslan.
Rose’s other career highlights have included performing with Nicola Benedetti and Alexei Grynyuk in a Royal Gala Concert to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Menuhin. She has also performed alongside pianist Sam Haywood and clarinettist Katherine Spencer in Lymington’s popular Solent Music Festival.
Rose has twice been awarded the Leverhulme Trust Scholarship by the National Children’s Orchestra, and won first prize in the Music at Beaulieu Awards.
