Pair arrested over £12,000 suspected drugs find after car stopped on Barrack Road in Christchurch




Two people have been arrested after £12,000 worth of drugs was found following a car search in Christchurch.

Officers stopped the vehicle in Barrack Road shortly after 11pm on Sunday 23rd April, when it was searched along with the occupants: a man and a woman.

After the woman was found with a stash of suspected illegal drugs, police searched an address in Boscombe where class A drugs with an estimated value of around £12,000 was seized, along with a large amount of cash.

A 26-year-old woman, from London, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply and possession of a class B drug. A 26-year-old man, also from London, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Both were released on bail as officers carry out further enquiries.

Sergeant Cameron Thompson, of the BCP Neighbourhood Enforcement Team, said: “Through Operation Viper we have been relentlessly pursuing those suspected of being involved in the supply of illegal drugs in our communities.

“This incident involved collaboration between traffic officers, patrol units and the Neighbourhood Enforcement Team to uncover a significant quantity of suspected illegal drugs and disrupt the activities of individuals believed to be involved in the supply chain.

“We will continue our efforts to make Dorset a hostile place for those reported to be involved in drug related activity and we would urge members of the public to report any information to us.”
