A MAN who armed himself with a knife before confronting and robbing two pensioners in their Totton home has been jailed for 14 years.

Dean Lewis Lee entered a property at Downs Park Avenue in Eling before threatening the terrified pair, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s, on 30th January this year.

He stole their wallet and handbag before leaving the scene by walking down a gravel walkway close to an area of marshland along Bartley Water, Southampton Crown Court heard.

During the incident the male victim – whose identity has not been revealed – suffered a cut to his head and injury to his leg. Both occupants were “severely affected”, the court was told.

A key piece of evidence was the knife used by Lee, of no fixed abode.

It was recovered by Hampshire Police officers from the undergrowth behind the victim’s property. A subsequent forensic examination found it contained Lee’s DNA, linking him to the scene.

The handbag he stole was recovered a few months after the incident, which happened near to Eling Tide Mill.

Lee (28) denied the robbery but was found guilty after a trial at the crown court.

He admitted another charge of burglary relating to him breaking into a shed at the same property in May 2018.
