Overtaking motorist among 53 offenders caught in speed crackdown on B3078 Roger Penny Way

AN overtaking motorist was among 53 offenders caught in another speed crackdown at a notorious New Forest animal accident black spot.

Officers stationed themselves alongside the 40mph B3078 Roger Penny Way, between Bramshaw and Fordingbridge, with a safety camera van.

They were supported by Forestry England, the national park authority, New Forest District Council, agisters, and safety campaigners New Forest Roads Awareness.

The 53 speeders caught on both Roger Penny Way and on the B3079 through Bramshaw included one who was overtaking at over 50mph.

A police Facebook post afterwards said: “We issued one ticket for excess speed, seized one car for being driven by a man without a valid licence and another driver was reported for having no insurance.

“Ten other drivers were spoken to by our partners and educated about why it’s important to stay under the speed limit everywhere in the New Forest.”
