Village butcher Bransgore Country Market to close over rising costs

BRANSGORE Country Market is to close with the owners blaming rising energy and meat costs for having to shut its doors.

Famous for its ‘Bransgore Bangers’ owners Caralyn and Gary Yendall announced the sad news on their Facebook page saying that the store will open for the last time on Saturday.

They said: “It is with great sadness that we have decided to close the shop, Saturday 15th October will be our last day.

“The current situation with increasing energy and also meat costs make it no longer viable for us to stay open.

“We have had a very happy 12-and-a-half years running the shop and will miss all our loyal customers very much.”

On Friday and Saturday the shop is holding a half-price sale with everything slashed by 50%.

News of the closure was received by local residents with shock. One said: “I’ve just broken the news to my kids who both started crying and said 'does this mean no more Bransgore bangers!'.”

Another loyal customer said: “This is such very sad news, your Bransgore Bangers are legendary in three generations of our family. What a part of the village you are, and how much that meant over the pandemic

One person said: “This will be a huge loss for the village.”

Another customer revealed: “We are still in shock but understand that you must do whatever is necessary for your family.

“We will however still see you on Friday as we had planned, only wish that it wasn't to be our last shop with you both.

"Bransgore will not be the same without you both.”
