Residents of Aylesford in Kent injured in car crash on the A35 near Lyndhurst
A WOMAN was left fighting for her life, and a six-year-old girl and two other people badly hurt after a van and car crashed on the A35 near Lyndhurst.
Paramedics and police responded to the collision involving a Renault van and a Vauxhall Astra on the southbound carriageway between Lyndhurst Road and Pinkney Lane just after 1.30pm last Friday.
Having suffered what were described by the Hampshire force as life-threatening injuries, a 37-year-old woman from Aylesford in Kent was taken to hospital.
She was a passenger in the Astra, of which all of the other casualties who suffered serious injuries were also occupants.
Along with the young child, they included a man in his 30s, who was the driver, and a woman in her 50s. They are all also from Aylesford.
Firefighters from Lymington and Redbridge released two casualties from the vehicles, and the crews remained at the scene until around 4pm.
The stretch of road was closed southbound from Bank and northbound from Lyndhurst Road for over eight hours. Rhinefield Ornamental Drive was also closed in both directions.
A Hampshire police spokesperson said enquiries into the collision were continuing, and witnesses and those with useful dash cam footage are being sought.
