New treehouses open at Shorefield Country Park in Milford
NEW Forest holidaymakers can branch out this summer with new treehouses that have finally opened in Shorefield Country Park woodland.
Up to six people can sleep in each of the two luxury getaways, which also include a hot tub.
Shorefield Holidays started construction in 2019 but their opening last May was delayed thanks to the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.
Now, with restriction eased, the treehouses – named Silvertree and Coppertree – are open for those who crave a little more altitude in their accommodation.
Shorefield MD Simon Pollock said the project had been "very exciting from start to finish".
He added: "It was really important to us that we created a unique bespoke design that allows our guests to embrace nature up close from within the tree canopy, but one that also would fit perfectly within an area of tree protection without harming the ecology of the site.
"The completed product has achieved all that we could ask for, and we can’t wait for our guests to experience tree canopy accommodation that embraces nature – the true spirit of Shorefield Holidays."
The treehouses are set below the tree canopy and are accessible via gently sloping timber walkways. There are turrets, "quirky" windows and, as well as the hot tub, facilities include a pizza oven, sun loungers, a gas barbecue and outdoor heaters.
Sara Bertin, director at Shorefield, said the build had been "our most challenging and exciting to date".
She explained: "We wanted to create a sophisticated cosy atmosphere with quirky references to the woodland, with accents of colour that reflected the names Silvertree and Coppertree.
"The pandemic and Brexit certainly tried to slow our construction work down, but the end result is truly spectacular and we hope that many unforgettable memories will be created."
Lesley Lawrence, director at Shorefield, said the treehouses were the pinnacle of the firm's achievements.
"We have run Shorefield Holidays as a family business for 63 years. Since the beginning, our company journey has involved constant innovation and investment as we strive to be the best in the business.
"These treehouses represent the pinnacle of our endeavour thus far and my late father Dr Robert Pollock, our founder, would be so proud.
"We are thrilled to now be able to offer this magical experience."
