AFC Totton manager Louis Langdown has described teenage goalkeeper Adam Siviter as “a real find for us”.

Siviter was drafted in on loan from Birmingham City in September to cover for Shane Murphy after he had sustained a fractured skull.

A first-year professional with the Championship outfit, Siviter kept his first clean sheet for the Stags in their convincing victory at Barnstaple.

Walsall-born Siviter arrived at Testwood Stadium alongside fellow Blues youngster Ben McLean, with their loan agreements set to expire following Totton’s trip to Bideford on 22nd December.

Langdown used his contacts to secure the pair’s services having worked with Scott Bevan, Birmingham’s head of academy goalkeeper coaches, at Portsmouth. Siviter played for Blues’ under-23s against the Stags in a pre-season friendly.

Langdown told the A&T: “I was really pleased for Adam because he hadn’t kept a clean sheet since he has been here and he has been outstanding for us.

“He pulled off two really good saves and everyone was buzzing for him. He was happy to get his first clean sheet because they mean so much to goalkeepers.

“Adam has been excellent for us. He made one or two errors that cost goals early on but we managed to win those games so they were eradicated. He has been a real find for us. He has made saves left, right and centre and some top-class saves too.

“He travels from Birmingham so he comes with his mum, dad, girlfriend and uncle — we have managed to add four to the gate so the chairman is pleased!

“As a lad, he is different class and he is really liking the experience. I dare say it might have been a bit of culture shock for him but he is loving it and we are pleased to have him.”

Langdown was also keen to publicly thank Birmingham manager Garry Monk and coach James Beattie for their help: “They were great sorting it for us and we don’t have to contribute to a wage which is fantastic.

“They pushed it through on the Friday so he could play on the Saturday. We like him and they like him so hopefully he can eke another contract and see where he goes.

“He is certainly doing the right things. We are lucky to have our games videoed which is great so we send the videos to them and they get to see him doing well.”

Alex Haynes paved the way for the victory at Barnstaple when he bagged his first senior goal after nine minutes. Craig Feeney’s quickfire double put them 3-0 ahead after 25 minutes before Stu Green added a fourth late on.

Langdown added: “Barnstaple are at the bottom scraping for their lives. We were there a couple years ago when we took over and we know it is hard. If a team goes 1-0 up in the first five minutes, you know you are up against it and that was our aim.

“The lads were on it from the first minute and put them to the sword. We didn’t look back after we had taken the lead in the ninth minute. We were dominant and it was a good win.”
