Police to continue patrols after entrails and candles found a Stagbury Hill, near Bramshaw, in apparent 'ritual'
ANIMAL entrails surrounded by a circle of candles were left on a small mound near Bramshaw in an apparent ritual.
Five pieces of meat – thought to include animal hearts – were arranged at the top of a trig point of Stagbury Hill on Friday 13th January.
Around 30 candles were placed in a circle underneath.
Police confirmed the incident was reported to them and have pledged to continue local patrols.
A member of the public came who across the find shared it to Facebook but did not want to say anything when approached by the A&T.
Other social media users commented on the bizarre find, with one calling it a "strange ritual".
Another wondered: "Weird – connected to the cat strung up the flagpole and the dead fox left on the church steps?"
As reported in the A&T, Bramshaw vicar the Rev. David Bacon warned locals to stay vigilant after dead animals were left at the church last December.
The 12th century St Peter’s Church, on Judds Hill, was targeted twice which the Rev. Bacon said had been "upsetting".
He told the A&T then: "There was a dead cat left, which was found by someone coming to clean the church. I did not see it but was told it was hanging from the flagpole.
"There was also a dead fox left. It was deliberately placed; I think it is unlikely that it died there [naturally] on the church doorstep."
In 2019 vandals also sprayed the church walls with phallic and Satanic symbols.
Later that year police launched an investigation after sheep and cattle were found stabbed and sprayed with occult markings in the space of five days within a few miles of each other in the Bramshaw area.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary told the A&T about the latest find: "We received a report of meat found on the top of Stagbury Hill with candles placed in a circle around it.
"This was spotted by members of the public at around 7.45am on 13th January.
"The items were disposed of before the report was made. We have conducted enquiries and will continue to patrol the area."
