The annual Totton Santa Run raises more than £3,000 for organisers 5th Testwood Scouts

A SEA of red suits dashed through Totton for the seventh annual Santa Run, raising more than £3,000.

The event was organised by 5th Testwood Scouts, with all money going towards improvements to the club’s Garland Lodge headquarters in Calmore.

Participants chose to take part in a 2.5km family run or a longer 5km route, both of which set off from and ended at the Empire Hall in Library Road.

Afterwards a Christmas fair was held in the hall, with a raffle, refreshments and carol singing.

An event spokesperson told the A&T: “We had 280 registered runners take part – this was down on 2022 numbers, however, this was to be expected due to the financial climate this year.

“We are really grateful to everyone who took part and helped us raise over £3,000 for the group.

“The 5th Testwood Scout group love putting on this festive community event and hopefully it will get bigger and better.

“Money raised will help the group to further improve Garland Lodge, where at least 100 young people benefit each week from all that Scouting brings and the life skills our adult volunteers teach.”
