Police seek witnesses and video footage after cyclist suffers serious injuries on the A35 Christchurch bypass

WITNESSES and dash cam footage are being wanted by police investigating how a cyclist was badly hurt on the A35 Christchurch bypass.

A stretch of the busy dual carriageway was shut last Friday as emergency crews treated the casualty, a local man in his 50s who needed medical attention.

Police had responded to a call-out by paramedics to help them on the eastbound carriageway, between the Purewell Cross and Somerford roundabouts.

The man was then taken by ambulance to hospital with serious injuries.

PC Calum Maton, of the roads policing team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident to establish the full circumstances of what happened and how the cyclist came to sustain his injury.

“I would like to hear from any motorists driving in the area who may have captured dash cam footage of what occurred.

“Road closures were put in place to allow the emergency services to respond to this incident and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during this time.”
