Armed police response to weapon alert at War Memorial car park in Totton




ARMED police swooped on a Totton car park amid reports of a group with a suspected offensive weapon last night (Sunday).

The alarm was raised around 8.20pm, and the armed response team arrived at War Memorial Car Park, off Salisbury Road, to discover a BB gun.

This was seized, and searches of the individuals present at the scene were carried out.

As a result, a local 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm in a public place.

Another 17-year-old local boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing a class B drug with intent to supply.

Both suspects currently remain in police custody as investigations into the incident continue.

The officers also seized cannabis, drug paraphernalia, cash and a mobile phone.
