Army parachute display team star attraction at village's RNLI fun day

A FANTASTIC display by the army's Lightning Bolts parachute team will be one of the high-lights of this year’s Mudeford RNLI Lifeboat Funday.

There will also be the ever-popular raft race where 20 teams compete to see who can navigate the infamous Mudeford Run on their homemade vessels at the event on Sunday 11th August.

One of the most exciting parts of the day will be the crew of the Mudeford RNLI lifeboat and HM Coastguard showing off their skills in rescuing swimmers and sailors who get into trouble.

For the kids there is a duck race where you can sponsor your favourite quack, a bouncy castle, face-painting and train ride at the event which runs from 11am to 6pm.

There will be a funfair and an arts and crafts marquee. For the more adventurous there will be watersports demos with a chance to have a go yourself.

A designated picnic area has been set aside and there will be refreshment stalls including a hog roast, barbecue, pizzas, candy floss and ice cream.

There will also be stalls selling gifts, and a grand prize raffle.

Last year £80,000 was raised for the lifeboat station, all of which goes towards funding the essential service.

An RNLI spokesperson said: “The Mudeford Lifeboat Funday is unique in that all the money raised goes directly into maintaining the lifeboat service at Mudeford.

​“It’s a great day out for all the family, it's free to attend and just by spending a pound or two while you're there you'll be supporting our local, invaluable lifeboat station.”

Christchurch solicitors Williams Thompson is sponsoring this year’s fun day.
