Arnewood's Maddie returns from world championships with silver
ARNEWOOD School pupil Maddie Saunders has won a haul of world cycle speedway medals, with the highlight a silver medal at the world U16 girls’ championship.
Fourteen-year-old Maddie made her debut for the England women's team competing in the world cup in Torun. England dominated the event throughout going on to lift the Nations Cup, earning Maddie a gold medal.
The action then moved on to Leszno, Poland, for the Federation Cup and individual world championships.
Maddie made her Great Britain debut when she rode in the GB Women's team in the Federation Cup. Team GB and Maddie claimed gold at the event.
Maddie then participated in the U16 and women's world individual championships despite fracturing two small bones in her right-hand weeks earlier.
She claimed second in the U16 final on a tricky track and dropped only one point throughout the competition. In the women's final, Maddie finished a respectable seventh place.
She will now look forward to the next world championships at Adelaide, Australia, in November 2020. For more information on sponsoring Maddie, email Kevin at Kev@saundersgolfpro.co.uk.
