Drug-drive arrest after van ploughs into parked cars outside New Milton fire station on Whitefield Road




A DRIVER was arrested after a van ploughed into parked cars outside New Milton fire station last night (Tuesday).

Police and firefighters responded to a call-out around 8.20pm reporting the crash involving a Ford Transit on the station’s forecourt on Whitefield Road.

No serious injuries were reported, but officers arrested the van driver, a 34-year-old local man, on suspicion of drug-driving. He was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said today: “On-call crews at New Milton were alerted at 8.21pm last night after a private van collided into two parked cars at the fire station.

“Fortunately, no one was trapped, with firefighters making the scene safe by cleaning up a small oil spill.

“A fence suffered minor damage in the incident.”
