72-year-old arrested on suspicion of arson after fire at house on Marine Drive in Barton




A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a house fire in Barton yesterday (Saturday).

As reported by the A&T, fire crews were called to the blaze at about 7.50am and, at the height of the incident, eight fire engines and other specialist appliances were in attendance.

Now police have confirmed a 72-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson. He has been detained under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act, a spokesperson for Hampshire police confirmed today.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, and an investigation remains ongoing.
