They detained a man and a woman on suspicion of being involved in supplying class A substances, and a post by police on Facebook later that morning said the pair were helping them with enquiries.

The post said: “You may have noticed that our officers were present at an address on Shore Road this morning, as [Operation] Fortress drug-related warrant.

“A male and a female were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A controlled substances and are helping us with our enquiries.

“Our Waterside PCSOs have been engaging with members of the community this morning and will continue to patrol the neighbourhood.

“We want to ensure that we are engaging with the community in support of the operation in tackling and reducing drug-related harm in the local community.”
