Artists invited to enter St Barbe Open contest
AMATEUR and professional artists are invited to submit their work for a chance to be featured in the annual St Barbe Open Exhibition.
The popular show, which will open at Lymington’s St Barbe Museum and Gallery on Saturday 22nd March is open to creatives working across a range of media. The deadline for entries is Sunday 16th February.
Each artist can make up to two submissions of paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, or textiles. With no theme, the only selection criterion is quality, ensuring a diverse mix of media that celebrates artistic creativity.
Museum spokesperson Penny Curry said: “Every year, the St Barbe Open brings together such an inspiring variety of artwork. It’s a unique opportunity for artists to shine in our beautiful gallery and for visitors to explore the amazing local talent in Hampshire, Dorset, and beyond.”
In addition to the main exhibition, the gallery also runs a Young Artists’ Open for those aged between one and 18. Young artists are encouraged to submit works up to A3 size, either mounted on card or on box canvas, no need to frame.
Thanks to long-time St Barbe supporter Gordon Young, four prizes will be presented as part of the Ted Marsh Awards, honouring the legacy of the museum’s founding chairman.
