Attempted murder arrest after woman found badly hurt in Exbury Road, Beaulieu




A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as detectives investigate a serious assault in Beaulieu which left a woman badly hurt.

Police and paramedics rushed to Exbury Road following a call shortly before 8.30pm yesterday (Monday), reporting the woman had been found at the roadside.

The 29-year-old casualty had what were described as “significant injuries” and was taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

Her condition was “serious but not believed to be life-threatening”, according to a spokesperson for Hampshire police.

Officers arrested a 26-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of attempted murder, and he remains in custody.

Passing motorists who may have captured dash cam footage are among people being urged to come forward as enquiries continue.

Officers are still at the scene, which remains cordoned off.

DI Rod Kenny said: “We appreciate that this incident may have had an impact on the local community, especially those who may have witnessed it.

“We are really keen to hear from members of the public who may have been driving along Exbury Road between 7.45pm and 8.45pm and who may have dash cam footage of the events leading up to or the assault itself."

He continued: “Our officers remain on-scene at the moment while they continue to carry out their enquiries to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.

“If you see them and have any information about the assault, no matter how insignificant you believe it to be, please do approach them as this could help aid our investigation.”
