Attempted murder arrests after Christchurch man struck by car in Bournemouth
TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a Christchurch pedestrian was struck by a car.
The casualty, who is in his 20s, was airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries after the crash in Bournemouth on Monday night.
A black Range Rover was involved in the collision, reported at 10.10pm on Etches Close, at its junction with Western Avenue. The 4x4’s occupants were said to have fled the scene.
The injured man’s next of kin has been informed.
Enquiries led to the arrests of a 20-year-old and a 54-year-old, both from Bournemouth, on suspicion of attempted murder and driving offences.
The pair, who are known to the victim, were still in police custody on Wednesday evening.
Detectives from BCP CID are urging people to come forward amid reports there could be video footage of the incident.
DCI Andy Bell said: “We are continuing to carry out extensive enquiries into the circumstances of this incident and we would urge anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please come forward.
“We are aware that there may be footage of this incident that is circulating within the community.
“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police as well as anyone who might have captured any relevant footage on home CCTV, doorbell cameras or dash cam to speak to us.”
