Police probe after occupants flee crashed car left mounting rock off New Lane, Milford, near Hurst Spit




A CAR’S occupants fled the scene after it smashed into a rock near Hurst Spit at Milford.

Police are investigating the collision in which an Audi A1 was left mounted on the rock off New Lane, with its front end dipping into the water.

The alarm was raised shortly before 8.30pm yesterday (Thursday), but three people who were inside the vehicle left before officers arrived.

Several people took to local social media to share their bewilderment at how the car ended up in such a position.

Quips were shared, including “Caught between a rock and a hard place”, “Is this what they mean by an overflow car park?”; and “Audi do that?”

A Hampshire force spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.26pm last night (27th February) with reports of a single-vehicle collision in which an Audi A1 collided with a rock in New Lane, Milford-on-Sea.

“Three occupants of the vehicle were reported to have walked away from the scene.

“Officers have been making enquiries into the incident.”
