Anne Harnett celebrates 105th birthday at Hillyfield, Milford

A BAGPIPER serenaded Hillyfield rest home resident Anne Harnett on her 105th birthday.

Anne was born on 13th August 1918 in Scotland, so she was delighted to be reminded of her roots.

During the Second World War, Anne served as a nurse and afterwards married husband George, with whom she started a business selling Persian and Chinese carpets.

They moved to Dorset in 1989 and eventually settled down in Lymington. After George died, Anne moved to the care home in Milford in 2021.

Anne’s niece Margaret flew down from Scotland to celebrate her aunt’s birthday, and special friend Liz, who visits Anne nearly every day, also joined in the festivities.

A small party was held in the garden with her friends from Hillyfield, who enjoyed cakes and tea.

Singer Danny Light got the whole group singing, and Anne was especially delighted with her card from the King which is now on display in her room next to the one she received from the Queen five years ago.
