Fire crews battle homes fire spread from barbecue in May Avenue, Lymington
FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze that spread from a barbecue to two Lymington homes, causing extensive damage to one.
Called out to May Avenue around 11pm last Thursday amid reports of the barbecue fire, which also involved a gas cylinder, crews spent over 90 minutes containing the emergency.
One of the homes affected sustained 80% damage as a result of the incident, according to a spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
Personnel attended from the town, New Milton and Beaulieu.
“On-call firefighters in the New Forest were called to a house fire in May Avenue and found that a blaze involving a barbecue and gas cylinder had spread to two properties,” the spokesperson said.
“Crews were called at 11pm on Thursday evening, stopping the fire using jets, hose reels and ventilation fans.”
